About the event

Black queer writers have profoundly influenced the course of American literature, culture, politics, and society. Yet, the intricacies of Black queer writing life remain an underexplored and vital area of discussion. At a time when community building and collaboration among local Black queer writers is more important than ever, this conversation offers a unique opportunity to engage with voices shaping this crucial work.

Join the Rebuild Foundation and The Closet Unlocked for an illuminating evening with a diverse group of local Black queer writers. Hear their perspectives as they share their creative processes, discuss their experiences navigating Blackness and queerness, and reflect on the evolving literary landscape.

We look forward to welcoming you to this thought-provoking event. Light refreshments will be served, and drinks will be available for purchase at the bar. Don’t miss this chance to connect and celebrate the powerful narratives that are redefining literature and beyond!
