Frankie Knuckles Birthday Celebration at Retreat

Happy (early) birthday, Frankie Knuckles!

Please join us at Retreat on Sunday, January 15th, at 3 pm for a special afternoon in celebration of the Godfather of House Music, Frankie Knuckles, and Rebuild Foundation's stewardship of the Frankie Knuckles Vinyl Collection, courtesy of the Frankie Knuckles Foundation.

In honor of Frankie's birthday on January 18, DJ Duane Powell, Frederick Dunson and our Director of Mellon Programs Dr. Sampada Aranke will discuss the relationship between movements for social justice and the liberatory potential of house music using Frankie’s personal collection of records as the focal point of conversation. After the dialogue, DJ Duane Powell will spin a birthday set dedicated to Frankie's legacy and impact that will have us embodying the archive through joy, movement and celebration.
